Egypt’s emerging economy faces a dual burden wherein there is coexistence of under and over nutrition, either in the same population, community, household or same individual. The dual burden of disease can be extremely variable in its manifestation. It can, for example, be manifested as stunted children who are concurrently obese, or as stunted children who may not be currently obese but who are at risk of early onset chronic diseases.
